World Series of Poker facts

World Series of Poker happens every year via a selection of events which are united as part of one huge Las Vegas-based tournament. Created by Benny Binion the casino tycoon, the World Series of Poker event began during the 1970s and has 58 individual events with Texas Hold 'em being the favourite of many players. Classed as one of the biggest gambling tournaments throughout the globe, the winner of the tournament leaves with a coveted bracelet and a large cash prize. Only Stu Ungar and Johnny Moss have taken the title three times in the World Series of Poker, whilst four players (Moss, Ungar, Doyle Bronson and Johnny Chan) have won back-to-back tournaments. The most successful poker player in the World Series of Poker is a Wisconsin native, Phil Hellmuth, with 11 World Series of Poker bracelets. Jonathan Duhamel won the World Series of Poker in 2010, the first Canadian to win the title.
